Details: Want to learn about Permaculture as a design tool to create sustainable landscapes for efficiency and abundance? Its more than just growing organic food! This ONE day beginners course is an exploration into permaculture with a practical approach taught by James Kamau. James is permaculture certified and a passionate organic farmer. He works with small holder farmers and is part of PRI Kenya’s network.

Join us this July 6th at Nurisha located in the Swara Plains owned by PRI Kenya – Chair, Gai Cullen. Nurisha is fully sustainable and permaculture model farm and homestead. Gai has lived off the grid for more than 16 years!

This introduction to Permaculture course provides the opportunity to discuss vitally important issues in a positive, creative and supportive space. The course is lively, participatory and thought provoking.

Students are expected to arrive at the site by 8:15am. A welcome pack will be provided once registered online below. The welcome pack will include info on the course site and how to get there. Car pooling options will be included as well. Note that you will need a car to get there.

Students  will receive:

  • Morning tea/refreshments;  please note: BYO (bring your own) shared lunch if you can so we can have an array of different and cultural spreads. We are expecting 30 people! Feel free to bring savory snacks, crackers, spreads, cultural foods, anything of your choice really!

About the permaculture model partner site and owner

Gai Cullen, PRI Kenya Chair

Gai is one of the co-founders of PRI-Kenya. Born in Nyeri, she co-owns Wells Fargo  and Fargo Courier and brings to PRI-Kenya a wealth of business, security, logistics and operations experience. Gai is also deeply involved in a number of conservation and environmental sustainability initiatives across Kenya. Having lived over 17 years completely off-grid she also has extensive experience of sustainable living and is currently developing her permaculture organic certified homestead “Nurisha” on the Swara Plains wildlife conservancy outside of Nairobi. Having a passion for helping people be food secure and loves getting her hand in the soil.
