Where: Fargo House and Tree, Centre at the Nairobi Arboretum

Details: This one or two day Intro to Permaculture Course is designed to give you a basic framework of how to apply the ethics, principles and techniques of Permaculture and how to put these practices to full use in your own backyard, offering practical solutions. This course is ideal for home-dwellers, those interested in sustenance security, gardeners, farmers, students, design professionals, entrepreneurs, community activists and business owners.

Cost: To be confirmed for both venues. (Fees include tea, lunch and certification and excludes transport to and from the course)



One Day Intro to Permaculture Design Certification Course 

When: October 7th

Where: Nurisha, Swara Plains

Cost: 4,000 Kshs

Details:  Want to learn about Permaculture as a design tool to create sustainable landscapes for efficiency and abundance? It’s more than just growing organic food! This ONE day beginners course is an exploration into permaculture with a practical approach taught by James Kamau. James is permaculture certified and a passionate organic farmer. He works with small holder farmers and is part of PRI Kenya’s network.

The course takes place at Nurisha located in the Swara Plains owned by PRI Kenya – Chair, Gai Cullen. Nurisha is fully sustainable and permaculture model farm and homestead. Gai has lived off the grid for more than 16 years!

This introduction to Permaculture course provides the opportunity to discuss vitally important issues in a positive, creative and supportive space. The course is lively, participatory and thought provoking.  Regardless of your experience this Certificate course will equip you with the skills to design and implement Permaculture into your home or professional environments from urban back-yard plots and Permaculture systems to small farms and community projects.

Permaculture & Tropical Medicine Certification Course

When: October 21st

Where: Nairobi Arboretum

Cost: 4,500 Kshs

Details: Join us for a unique experience learning tropical medicine integrated with permaculture design at our office in the Nairobi Arboretum. This course will be facilitated by Gai Cullen and Priscilla Nzamalu who are both permaculture practioners and trained in Natural Medicine from ANAMED.

You will learn practical principles and strategies in permaculture with a huge emphasis on natural medicine and herbal gardens.

Permaculture provides an effective solution-based design system to address the problems of today. Based on a set of principles and natural patterning, permaculture design is applicable in all climate conditions; in both urban and rural situations. Many indigenous communities who have been relocated or disconnected from their home are studying permaculture design principles to help re-weave cultural connection and relationship.
