We offer a range of specialized courses on related subjects such as bee-keeping, natural building, earthworks, integrated pest management and composting. These courses are offered at the Nairobi Arboretum as well as at our partner sites around East Africa.
Note that a 50% deposit is required to fully secure your place and the balance no later than the course start date.
Introduction to Permaculture Courses ~ One day and Two day Courses

Details: This one or two day Intro to Permaculture Course is designed to give you a basic framework of how to apply the ethics, principles and techniques of Permaculture and how to put these practices to full use in your own backyard, offering practical solutions. This course is ideal for home-dwellers, those interested in sustenance security, gardeners, farmers, students, design professionals, entrepreneurs, community activists and business owners.

One Day Nutrition Course in Athi River

Where: Nurisha, Swara Plains in Athi River
Cost: 10,500 KSH
Details: This is a unique course bringing in chefs and experts from the slowfood movement, and permaulture experts who will share stories, recipes, herbal medicine and a holistic nutrition approach as well as designing small urban gardens. You will also get to see a permaculture demo site in action run by one of PRI Kenya’s founding member’s Gai Cullen. Her demo home boasts abundant gardens, food forest, herb gardens and livestock management just 50 min from JKIA!
Two Day Bee Keeping Certification Course
(in partnership with Jess de Boer, part of the Urban PDC schedule which will be out very soon too)

Details: This is our first ever bee keeping course with bee girl herself Jess de Boer and author of the Elephant and Bee! This course will take place in Karen as part of the six week permaculture urban course and is open to anyone to attend. You don’t want to miss this! Dates to be confirmed by January.
Two day Integrated IPM and Composting Intensive Certification Course in the Nairobi Arboretum

Where: The Arboretum in Nairobi
Cost: 15,500 KSH
Details: This will be our first ever integrated pest management and composting course roped in together at the Nairobi Arboretum. This course will focus on managing gardens, effective IPM strategies, soil biology and building, companion planting and designing efficient composting systems. There will be emphasis on practicals during this two day intensive.
Advanced Earthworks Certification

Where: North Laikipia
Details: We have organised a FIVE day Advanced Earthworks Certification with renowned facilitator Warren Brush from Quail Springs and Cuyama Valley, California! This course takes place February 22-26th 2016 in Laikipia at Naatum Women’s Group – a group we work very closely with. This course is primarily for those who have already taken a Permaculture Design Certification Course (PDC). According to Warren Brush, who has worked in challenging areas around the World, including the Kalahari desert, this is one of the worst degraded areas he has come across and now wants to demonstrate the incredible potential this site has, to fully transform for the women!
