Introduction to Permaculture
One day introduction to Permaculture Courses are run at the Fargo Training School every Saturday. This half day intensive is a nuts-and-bolts course filled with solid knowledge and techniques for future growers. We also offer specialized workshops in Nairobi.
Permaculture Design Certificate
The Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) course is an internationally-recognized, 72- hour course, based on Bill Mollison’s Permaculture Designers Manual, resulting in the internationally recognized Permaculture Design Certificate. The course provides an introduction to permaculture design as a tool to create abundant ecosystems sustainably in the backyard, in a small farm or on a larger broad acre landscape. These courses are offered at our partner sites across East Africa.
We also offer a range of specialized courses on related subjects such as bee-keeping, natural building, earthworks, integrated pest management and composting. These courses are offered at the Nairobi Arboretum as well as at our partner sites around Nairobi and East Africa.
Training of Trainers
PRI-Kenya is currently developing East Africa’s first Teacher Training Certification in collaboration with our co-founder and advisory board member Warren Brush from Quail Springs Permaculture, True Nature Design and Casitas Valley Farm in California. We have also partnered with more International Permacyulture practitioners. Our Teacher Training provides skills in teaching permaculture for those who have already completed their PDC and who already have some experience implementing permaculture.
As part of our TOT we have also started an Advanced Permaculture Design Consultant training together with International Permaculture facilitators, focusing on giving students an in depth insight into the permaculture design process alongside.
